| For The Birds! (suet) |

1 lb. lard
2 cups crunchy peanut butter
4 cups oats
4 cups corn meal
2 cups flour
2/3 cup sugar
sunflower or other bird seeds optional |

| Melt lard and peanut butter in a large pot over low heat. Stir frequently. Remove from heat and add dry ingredients, stirring to mix as you go. Divide into appropriate containers or shapes. Refridgerate until hard. Display or hang outside for your feathered friends.
I always double the recipe. Can be used year round. Doubled...recipe yields approx. 12-16 square cakes.
(collect containers from friends that buy ready-made suet and then continue to recycle them) |
